A wired monaural ear loop to listen to sound from a receiver. Used instead of headphones.
Most consumers dislike using them: they are uncomfortable, people like to hear from both ears, and they often do not stay on the ear.
It is also called D-ring, ear loop, ear loudspeaker, single ear speaker, surround earphone (WilliamsAV), Universal Ear Speaker (ListenTech), and other proprietary terms.
ADA Compliance
- They can work for people who do not use hearing aids
- They are not “hearing aid compliant” (HAC) as required under the ADA. A neckloop must also be provided.
