A receiver for an assistive listening system receives the processed sound signal from a transmitter, and then delivers it to the consumer’s ear, via headphones, earbuds, hearing aid, or cochlear implant.
Often a small, rectangular box, approximately 3×5 inches, which receives the audio signal. Each type of assistive listening system has its own receiver, e.g., an infrared receiver will not receive an FM signal.
The images are two receivers: infrared and RF. The infrared is a ‘stethoscope’ model with earbuds. The RF is a 3×5-inch rectangular box. Both have volume controls.
