(3 pages) Two lists of hearing instruments that are ADA-compatible devices: 1) telecoils and 2) telecoils and Auracast.
- Current need: Telecoils connect to ADA-compliant assistive listening systems (hearing loops, FM, infrared), now and years into the future.
- Future need: In the next 5-7 years, if you decide to purchase new hearing instruments, consider adding Auracast in addition to your telecoil. These brands and models currently offer models with Auracast-ready or -enabled built-in capability.
Additional notes:
- Some manufacturers (such as Signia and Widex) are intentionally waiting and not jumping (or rushing) into Auracast for several reasons, including the lack of an international installation IEC standard (to be finalized in 2027), product development/research, the highly sparse Auracast installations around the world, and waiting for the technology to evolve.
