“ADA-Access-Ready” hearing instruments, are ones with both Auracast™ and telecoils
To ensure access for all assistive listening systems, it is critical that both Auracast and telecoils be included in hearing instruments (and not merely in an accessory) for at least the next decade and probably longer.
Users shouldn’t be forced to choose between Auracast (this website) and telecoils, nor should providers be forced to choose (because of the lack of devices provided by the hearing aid manufacturers) between models that offer only one or the other. Patients should be able to have a telecoil in the device itself and not in an accessory. DeafBlind consumers using audio description and assistive listening devices need designs that easily connect and provide dual audio.
Since 2009 (16 years ago), national and international groups have written declarations about the criticality of including BOTH telecoils and Bluetooth/Auracast.
