(Sept 2026) Auracast does not yet appear to be a reliable solution for “long” distances outdoors. With our hearing aids and receivers, we were able to determine that a maximum distance of approximately 5 meters in front of the transmitter was reliable for virtually all receivers.
The aim of the test was to verify the practical suitability of Bluetooth Auracast outdoors. While manufacturers often advertise ranges of over 100 meters under ideal conditions, this test was intended to show how the technology performs under real-world conditions. Currently, there is a lack of reliable data in this area, as the physical conditions outdoors differ significantly from those indoors.
