Consumer Advocacy-Attend Events and Services

Use the System
When attending events, proactively request access to the facility’s assistive listening system (ALS) to both test the system and notify the venue that it is being used. Provide feedback to the facility and encourage others to use the system and share their comments as well.
Why always use the system?
- Role model – to others in the audience who have hearing loss.
- Facility staff – gives staff practice, shows the facility that they are needed.
- Personally – you will gain more experiences and stories for your advocacy work. Also, the event may be less tiring if you work less hard to listen.
Feel free to reach out to Center for Hearing Access (CHA) with questions, finding templates, or support. CHA can also conduct training for a minimum of 2+ organizations, via Zoom. CHA contact information
