Symbols for Captioning
Below are the two captioning symbols: closed captions and open captions. Each also has a brief explanation. At the bottom is the 2016 movie requirements for audio description and captioning.
Closed Captions Symbol
For Zoom virtual meetings (such as Zoom) or videos that can be optionally turned on or off by each viewer.

Open Captions Symbol
Represents on-screen captions, also known as open captions, for in-person audiences, where everyone will see the captions projected on a screen or LED board and cannot be turned off by an audience member.
The CART professional can be physically located on-site or remotely. The CART provider can send captions to the main projection screen, a second screen and/or to the web for participants to view on their smartphone.
