Audio Description

audio description symbol

Audio description is a narration that verbally describes key visual elements at performing arts events, movies, and other media. It makes the program accessible to individuals who are blind or have low vision. It provides context and clarifies visual information, such as actions, settings, and facial expressions, that may not be apparent from the audio alone. Audio description is typically inserted into natural pauses in the program’s dialogue or sound.

Audio description is included with assistive listening systems, because 1) the equipment used is the same and 2) DeafBlind individuals need both ALS and AD equipment to work seamlessly in the future (little to no capability currently)
