(December 2024) This study explored clinicians’ perspectives on telecoils, including their approaches to patient education and the factors influencing their decision to
implement telecoils in hearing aids.

Some reflective questions
- If 75-ish audiology schools across the country have an aural rehab course and there is plenty of research proving the effectiveness of assistive listening systems, why do only 30% of providers always include telecoils in their fittings (see poster)? Why might the statistic 30% actually be lower in reality?
- Analyzing the poster. What are some topics that audiologists may not be fully informed about? Were there any limitations introduced by the student? [only a slight mention of ADA, Auracast promises, not understanding the capabilities of hearing loops, not aware that telecoils are for FM and IR systems, etc.]
- With the advent of Auracast streamed assistive listening systems, what may need to change in providers’ practices?
